November 6, 2010, marked HBDA's annual Masquerade fete at the Palladium. Those who came and delved into costumes and transformed themselves into characters always seem to have the most fun as well as being the most attention getting people of the evening. Imagination and creativity turn into frolic fun and entertainment.
Highlights of the evening included: bento dinning, a costume contest for the funniest, the scariest, and the most extraordinary; a Paso Doble dance solo exhibition by Debbie Nobler (Kaimuki Chapter) and professional Doug Kessler; and Chapter Skits with "Halloween themes" performed by five Chapters fully dressed in costume. General dancing started at 6 pm and was interspersed between costume and skit presentations.
Receiving monetary awards were the top two costume contest winners for each of the three categories mentioned above who were judged by a panel of seven judges. Also, each Chapter who entertained the audience with their skit also received a monetary reward.
DJ Henry Lee assisted by Jane Umeda and MC Jack Legal round out the trusty and indispensible people needed to keep things ticking.
