Carolyn Noah - Swing Dance Club Hawaii is putting on another workshop covering the Nightclub 2 Step, Hustle and West Coast Swing. If you attended their workshop featuring Buddy Schwimmer, you know how much fun these workshops can be.

On December 3 and 4, the Swing Dance Club will be featuring Robert Cordoba and Deborah Szekley. Who are they? . . . That’s what we said. But, then again, we’re pretty new to the Swing Dance circle and haven’t become familiar with the who’s who in this genre of dance. In a nutshell, among other notable accomplishments, Robert Cordoba, who has a strong background in Ballroom and Latin, is 7-time U.S. Open Swing Dance Champion. Deborah Szekely is 5-time U.S. Open Swing Dance Champion, with over 25 years of experience, both teaching and performing, Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Swing. With this background, Deborah brings a phenomenal style and presence to social and competitive West Coast Swing.




Together, Robert and Deborah have won numerous titles across the country and are Swing Dance Hall of Fame’rs. They have won the Classic or Showcase Division at every major Championship across the nation multiple times. They have been judges or Head Judge at many championships, including the U.S. Open and U.S. Grand Nationals. Together, they are among the first pioneers to take, teach and perform West Coast Swing exclusively in Europe and in the South Pacific. Pretty impressive resume. So, if you’re into this type of dancing, mark your calendars for Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4. The workshop will be held at the Palladium. And, in Swing Dance Club style, on Sunday evening, there will be a social event where you’ll be able to show off what you learned over the weekend. What an action packed weekend for the dance community. Friday, December 2, is the USA Dance Honolulu Chapter’s Winter Ball at the Palladium, with Chicken & Steak Dinner and surprise performances. Saturday, December 3, is Divino Ritmo’s “Neon Lights” Grand Ball at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, with all their razzle, dazzle, and glamour! And capping the weekend, after their workshop, is the Swing Dance Club’s Sunday evening social at the Palladium with Robert Cordoba acting as D.J. - sounds like fun!!

And, speaking of Swing Dances, don’t forget this Saturday, November 19, USA Dance Honolulu is having a Hustle workshop conducted by our own local professional, Lucas Jaime. There were lots of GREAT responses to USA Dance’s Nightclub 2-Step, which was also conducted by Lucas Jaime. So, come on down!! Do the Hustle!!
