I arrived before 7:30 PM and noticed that the parking lot was near capacity so decided to do it on the street rather than test questionable geriatric parking skills. I thought, "Hmm... a lot of people must be watching the UH game in the bar." Wrong manong. The bar was less than half full but the banquet hall had close to 100 people already!
Wonderful to see that Lani and Paul made it out from Hawaii Kai! Also first timers Sharon and Bruce as well as the townie believers Willow, Pat Lam, Ruth & Joe, Charles, Jennifer, visiting friends and so on. The line dancers were well represented by 2 tables, Sharon, Mel, Reggie to name a few plus a semi load of new faces. Guesstimate for the crowd last night would be 150 stoked souls.
Found a seat and had just enough time to give my alohas before the band hit it. There was a tangible surge on the downbeat as dancers eager to burn it glided out to the floor. It did not take long for the music to fill the floor with couples and gyrating torsos. The NRG was gregarious permeating every aspect keeping the place a buzzing w/all sharing the high. I commented early on that I was getting light headed and definitely picking up on other people's highs.
After the break Gary Moore was featured. He started off the 2nd set with Little Richard. The bodies inundated the floor like some biblical flood euphoric smiles bobbing everywhere. He also covered Elvis as well as Sammy Davis Jr. interspersed with a humorous comfortable rap.
Pat Lambrecht sent a link she posted of Gary Moore last night @ Dots on Youtube as well as these wonderful pics. A big mahalos to this talented lady.

What I did notice last night was the dancing whether solo or couple was unpretentious and all about the moment, getting in touch with one's joy.
Unbeknown to the at times 60 plus bodies on the floor the large polished tiled area fronting had also been prepped with a kiss of dance wax. My partner commented on how great it was to move on. I stuck to that area for the elbow room with a few other akamai individuals most of the night.
After a few of us retired to the bar for Karaoke. Good thing we got in there early 'cause a huge group from the dance followed shortly to serenade us. Again the ladies were amenable so I got in a few more twirls.
Looks like Dots is well on it's way to securing it's spot as the numero uno gathering spot for music aficionados and lovers of dance on the Leeward scene.
Next week the King Pins return on Friday 12/2/11 as will I.
The following 2 weeks they have music scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays. "Audissey" 12/9/11, "Wasabi" 12/10/11, "Johnny Rock 2" 12/16/11, "808 Easy Street" 12/17/11!
Woo, I think I just had a dance-gasm thinking about the upcoming play dates. Oh, oh TMI......
Contemplating ceasing blogs on the fun at Dots. If it gets any more popular I won't be able to get in but Sharin' 'cause I'm carin' :),
