Special Edition

Received from Deanie:
Aiea Ballroom is the first non-profit, organized ballroom dance club in all of Hawaii.  Founded in 1955, prior to statehood. On Saturday April 14, 2018, at the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse [“The Palladium], we will celebrate our 63nd Anniversary.  Aiea Ballroom is one of the original five clubs sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu.

From the time of our inception, we have had weekly dance classes and continue to do so,  Currently are held at  Aiea Intermediate School.  Our founders are: Kazuo “Speedy” Nagamine,  Raymond Ching and Ralph Tsukada. In 1969  Mr. Ching founded our sister club, Wahiawa Ballroom Dance Club. They will celebrate their 49th Anniversary Saturday April 21, 2018 at Helemano Camp 808.

If you want to post anything earlier, like today or tomorrow, tickets for the dance are VERY reasonable - $6 at the door which does include the half time snack and participation in the door prize drawing. There won't be a bento.  Our "program" will be short - recognize pros, private studios, club reps and a few other folks special to Aiea Ballroom. That includes you. We'll have a snowball and about 20 door prizes. The whole program will probably take less than 30 minutes. We want to have as much time for general dancing as possible. That's what we're about - dancing. There'll be music playing from 6 pm; last dance at 9:30 pm. We're expecting close to 300 dancers.

I'm glad you'll be joining us.  See you tomorrow.  Deanie
